For fun, I’m fooling around with the idea of posting the cool, weird, interesting, or inspiring things that I stumbled upon during the past week. Some weeks might be more dense than others.
Will I always do this? Will I keep them posted or delete them every week? Right now, I’m not sure. Let’s just see how it goes.

Floor796
I’d been researching artists/illustrators for hire when I came across this crazy animated interactive wonder. I have no idea who is behind it, but it’s impressive enough that it inspired this whole Fanfare Friday idea to begin with… When you click the “about” tab, the artist says,
“Floor796 is an ever-expanding animation scene showing the life of the 796th floor of the huge space station! The goal of the project is to create as huge animation as possible, with many references to movies, games, anime and memes.”
Check it out. It’s so freaking incredible!
Christopher Walken Dance Now
In case you visited this post earlier, yes, you’re right. This wasn’t here because I found this video just a bit ago (even though it isn’t new). In this long-form article, Ron Gollobin narrates his misadventures as an overconfident, hellion teenage snake-wrangler. For me, the story evokes a nostalgia and a sadness at the loss of youthful misadventures because today, it just isn’t the same. And yet, as a parent, there’s relief in that.
Anyway, it’s a great end-of-summer read.

We forget how big even the “small” numbers are… Thanks Kevin, for this awesome visual reminder. This is especially cool for anyone who’s heard about Kevin Kelly’s theory of 1,000 True Fans.
Leo Hartas
I remember coming across Leo Hartas’s, The Apartment Book (or was it This Old House?) when I was a kid but I could never remember what the book was called. Of course when I accidentally stumbled across it in a reddit thread this week, I got pretty excited. He wrote/illustrated a similar book called The Haunted Castle. I don’t know a lot about art but I think this style is called isometric artwork? Pretty neat.
Beautiful Mornings
It’s been crazy hot and muggy over this past week. Last night thunderstorms rolled through- finally breaking the heat and giving light to one of the most beautiful mornings. From my kitchen window I could see a giant spider web spanning from the ground up to a low-hanging branch in our Eastern Red Cedar tree. I tried to capture it in a photo but I failed. Sometimes, you only get the moment. It’s still a beautiful moment though, even if you can’t see the web very clearly.
I’m also feeling super grateful to the evening summer cadence of cicadas followed by the katydids, gently fading to crickets. Before long, those sounds of summer will be gone. <3
